Building Policy for the People

Our mission

Our mission is to build, assess, and support legislation that strengthens the Public Good by advancing racial equity, and materially improving the lives of working class Chicagoans.

What is the public good?

We define a public good as a resource, service, or benefit that is accessible to everyone in society, and is supported through public funding and operation. Public goods have two key characteristics:

  1. Non-excludability – No one can be prevented from using them.

  2. Non-rivalrous consumption – One person’s use does not reduce availability for others.

Expansion of the public good is necessary in creating a society that supports the base needs of everyone within it, while creating and sustaining robust services that works effectively for all of us.
